Taking into account the property’s rich history, the design narrative of The Phoenician captures the spirit of its surrounding land and inhabitants. It references the prominent local artist who purchased the land in the early 1900s whose family opened the first inn, which still stands today. At the same time, it draws from the resort’s dramatic desert setting. The combination of these influences inspired the creation of three characters: the Cowboy, the Artist and the Healer. Each of these characters encapsulates the essence of the resort and, together, they guide the design narrative. Their defining details infuse it with a soul and purpose that capture the vision of the collectors, touch each guest and layer history, location and culture onto the resort’s elevated amenities and inherent sense of luxury. The genesis of the design stems from the resort’s relationship to the awe inspiring land. The Phoenician resort is “part of camelback mountain”- physically the architecture embraces the mountain beyond. The resultant perch proffers an unparalleled vista that markedly sets this resort apart as the view from camelback mountain is glorious.

Starting in 2006, the once-unknown name Parker-Torres Design Inc. has since become synonymous with excellent custom service and quality design. Upon stepping into the role of founding partner of Parker-Torres Design, Ms. Torres brought with her an unrivaled passion for interior design, in addition to her passion for working with people. Her wealth of design experience extends to a broad range of property types and styles, but her forte is in working seamlessly with a project team to make the needs of her clients top priority. In the years since the company’s inception, those clients have included developers, asset managers, brand managers, and owners of some of the world’s most respected and influential hospitality outlets. Ms. Torres has served as Director of Design for national projects in Boston, New York, California, and Florida, as well as being the Principal Designer on projects in Turkey, Canada, London, and Dubai, UAE. While she is fluent in all idioms of design, she excels in bringing forward the color and light of a property’s native environment. Ms. Torres’ heart is truly felt in the FF&E Design Selection and Specification phases in the hospitality market. Her affinity for creating her own custom carpet patterns are well-documented, as is her gift for respecting the client’s FF&E budget and parameters of the project-coordination needs.
